Vita:
Semir Zeki, who has pioneered the study of the visual brain, is Professor of Neurobiology in the University of London. His work has concentrated on the visual brain. More recently, he has started to enquire into the neurobiological foundations of art and aesthetics.
 
 
Publications:
He has written many articles on vision and the brain, and two books entitled ‘A Vision of the Brain´ [Blackwell Scientific Publications, Oxford (1993)], and ‘Inner Vision: an exploration of art and the brain´, [Oxford University Press, (1999)]. He has also co-authored, with the French painter Balthus, a book entitled ‘La Quête de l’Essentiel´ [Archimbaud, Paris (1995)] and he is a Fellow of the Royal Society and a foreign member of the American Philosophical Society. He is Editor of The Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society and founder of the Institute of Neuroesthetics.
